Near the forest, quieter area further from tourist spots
Less guesthouses or yoga places, longer walk to main road
The Swiss Cottage area is up on a hill between Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula. It is referenced after a popular guesthouse and restaurant by the same name here. Up on this foresty and hilly area are a few guest houses, restaurants and yoga retreat places. Swiss Cottage is definitely one of the quieter places to stay in Rishikesh where you are surrounded by more nature. It is a bit isolated from the main tourist areas and requires a fair bit of walking to the main street for public transportation that connects you to other parts. Alternatively, you can choose to hire a private autorickshaw to move around. If you have to go for classes daily, it wouldn't be the most convenient place to be unless your classes are up there. Quite a few accommodations in Swiss Cottage are also older and pricey for what they are so unless you like to be close to the forests and away from the main crowd, there are no serious reasons to stay here. It is however worth a visit for the small view of the Ganges from the Swiss Cottage restaurant and if you have a craving for some eggs! (sshhhh....please don't shout about it).
